Meet North: Converlay’s AI Analyst That Answers Questions About Your Own Tracking Data
Every merchant using Converlay eventually hits the same wall: something looks off in the dashboard—a destination shows "degraded," a consent number looks low, a usage bar is creeping toward the plan limit—and figuring out what it actually means means clicking through three different pages and cross-referencing dates by hand. With v2.39.0, Converlay closes that gap with North: an AI analyst built directly into the dashboard that answers those questions in plain language, using nothing but the shop's own real data.
Why a Chat Box Instead of Another Chart
Converlay's dashboard already surfaces a lot: delivery status per destination, a 30-day consent breakdown, plan usage, fleet benchmarks. The problem was never a lack of data—it was that a busy store owner doesn't have time to become fluent in reading it. "Is my Meta integration actually broken, or did I just have a slow day?" is a question every merchant asks themselves at some point, and until now the only way to answer it was to open the Destinations page, find the right row, and interpret a status badge.
North turns that into a conversation. A floating launcher sits on every embedded dashboard page, next to the existing support widget. Open it, type a question, and North answers from a snapshot of that shop's plan, trial status, usage, delivery outcomes, and consent data— built fresh on every turn, so the answer reflects what's actually happening right now, not a cached summary.
Guardrails, Not Just Guesses
An AI assistant bolted onto real account data is only useful if merchants can trust what it says, so North ships with hard limits rather than open-ended chat:
- No invented numbers. North answers only from the data block generated for that request—plan and trial state, delivery outcomes per destination over the last 7 days, a 30-day consent breakdown, and how the shop compares to similar-volume peers. If the data isn't there, North says so instead of guessing.
- No claimed actions. North can explain what's wrong and point at where to fix it, but it doesn't quietly reconfigure a destination or change a setting on a merchant's behalf—every fix still happens where the merchant can see it.
- Shop isolation. Every answer is scoped to the authenticated shop's own data, with no cross-shop leakage, and consent-gated events that were never recorded are described as exactly that—not folded into a vague "skipped" count.
- Two tools, both narrow. North can file a support ticket on the merchant's behalf when it can't resolve something itself, and it can pull up fleet benchmarks (cohort averages only, never another store's actual numbers) — nothing beyond that.
Those constraints were tested adversarially before launch: a red-team suite runs real conversations against a live instance and asserts the invariants above hold—that North never leaks another shop's data, never claims an action it didn't take, and never states a number it wasn't given.
What You Can Actually Ask It
North is built around the questions merchants already ask support, just answered instantly and specifically to their own store:
- "Why is my Pinterest destination showing as failing?" — North reads the last recorded error for that destination and states it directly, instead of a generic troubleshooting checklist.
- "How much of my monthly order limit have I used?" — a real-time usage figure, not last week's cached dashboard number.
- "How does my consent rate compare to similar stores?" — a fleet benchmark, scoped to stores of a similar volume, never a named competitor.
- "Am I still in my free trial?" — trial state and days remaining, pulled from the same billing data the Subscription page uses.
Available on Every Paid Plan
North is included on every paid plan and during the 14-day Pro trial, with a monthly message cap that scales with the plan—enough for a founder checking in a few times a week, not enough to replace the dashboard entirely. Free-plan merchants see the launcher too, with an upgrade prompt inside the panel rather than a locked feature they can't find. Nothing about North changes how events are captured or delivered—it's a read-only layer on top of the same server-side pipeline that already forwards events across Converlay's 26 supported destinations.
One More Way to Trust Your Numbers
Converlay exists to close the gap between what actually happens in a Shopify store and what ad platforms and analytics tools report back. North is the same philosophy applied to the dashboard itself: instead of asking a merchant to become an analyst, let them ask the analyst a question and get an answer grounded in their own real numbers.
North is live now for merchants on v2.39.0 and later—look for the launcher on any dashboard page.
